With Moloko, Roisin Murphy recorded four albums and achieved several memorable hits including ‘Sing It Back’, and ‘The Time Is Now’. Since then, solo, she has secured her position as the undisputed queen of electronic art-pop disco with albums including ‘Overpowered’ and last year’s ‘Hairless Toys’. Her live performances, powerful and glamorous, foreground her charisma, her musical genius and outstanding costume changes...
Riosin’s music draws on many inspirations – including her teenage years clubbing in Manchester, through to a recent single ‘Gone Fishing’, inspired by the New York drag scene documentaryParis is Burning.
‘Close Up’ feat. Roisin Murphy will include an opportunity for questions from the audience. The event forms part of Dave Haslam’s ongoing ‘Close Up’ series of onstage interviews - his previous guests have included artist Jeremy Deller, actor Paddy Considine, and musicians Tracey Thorn, Kevin Rowland, Bernard Sumner, Neneh Cherry, and Nile Rodgers.
